Our Story

An independent practice, run the way clients actually need a lawyer to work

Clarkson Legal Consulting is an independent legal practice based in Cape Town, founded by attorney Megan Clarkson to give businesses direct, practical access to corporate, commercial and property law advice — without the overhead, or the hand-offs, of a large firm.

The practice was built around a simple observation: businesses rarely need a full legal department, but they consistently need someone who understands both the law and how their business actually operates. Clarkson Legal Consulting fills that gap, working with founders, operators and established businesses across contract, structuring and compliance matters, on terms that flex with what the business needs at the time.

Having practised in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, Megan brings a working understanding of two legal systems to matters that increasingly cross borders — whether that means a UK-based client engaging South African counsel, or a local business dealing with an overseas supplier, investor or landlord.

Meet the founder

Megan Clarkson

Founder & Attorney

Megan is an admitted attorney specialising in corporate and commercial law, with a particular interest in real estate investment, development and management. She trained and practised across both South Africa and the United Kingdom before founding Clarkson Legal Consulting, and works directly with clients on contract drafting, corporate structuring, compliance and property matters.

Her background spans in-house and private practice roles, giving her a practical sense of what businesses actually need from their lawyer — clear advice, realistic timelines, and contracts that hold up when they're tested.
